Cartoon Network Launches In Canada But Not On Rogers, Bell, or Shaw

The Cartoon Network and Adult Swim Canada channel launched in Canada today (July 4, 2012) but not many people will be watching it. It is not because they don’t want to it is because they can’t. As of July 4 the only cable companies offering the new Cartoon Network Canada are Telus, Cogeco, and Eastlink (according to the Cartoon Network Canada’s update page). Everyone woke up on the 4th expecting to watch the Cartoon Network and when many found out they couldn’t they did what people do these days – express their opinions on Facebook and Twitter. Update: Cartoon Network Canada is now available on Bell.

If you check out Cartoon Network Canada’s Facebook or Twitter pages all you see is Rogers, Bell, Shaw, Videotron and various other cable customers asking them why they can’t watch the Cartoon Network / Adult Swim Canada channel. Their response is simple – they wish everyone could watch it but it is out of their control. They are asking you to contact your cable provider and let them know you want the channel. If you are a Rogers customer I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for the Cartoon Network as they have already shown they can be stubborn when it comes to adding new channels. The new ABC Spark channel started on March 26, 2012 and Rogers has yet to add that channel. Surely, it is a business decision as whether or not to add a new channel but customers don’t care about business they just want to watch their favorite shows.
